Your GP practice and its insurance needs are unique, so a one-size-fits-all policy is unlikely to offer the level of coverage that you require. At Wesleyan Financial Services, our fully advised service will assess and identify your practice’s specific needs and risks. From there, we will make tailored coverage recommendations to protect your practice’s viability, as well as your own finances.

Is your practice's insurance working for you?

As a GP partner or practice manager, are you confident your practice’s insurance needs are being met by your existing coverage?

When key staff are absent, all partners within your practice are affected. This can result in extra costs, which reduces profit and income.

Locum insurance through Practice Protector Plus*, provided by Wesleyan Assurance Society, can make sure risks - including those you may not consider - are identified and comprehensively covered.

* This is a fully advised service provided by Wesleyan Financial Services, who act as a broker and will be paid commission by Wesleyan Assurance Society.

What Practice Protector Plus offers

Through Practice Protector Plus, you will have the confidence of knowing that your insurance will pay for replacement doctors, specialist nurses and pharmacists, as and when they’re required.

With daily costs of GP locums at an average of £600 and in excess of £1,000** in some areas, Practice Protector Plus could offer financial security when it’s needed most.

In addition, when you take out locum insurance through Practice Protector Plus, you will become eligible for 20% off GP surgery insurance as a member of Wesleyan Assurance Society.

What’s covered by Practice Protector Plus insurance?

  • Cover without medical evidence
  • A guaranteed benefit (up to £2,000 per week) is available for all doctors and staff, regardless of medical history.

  • Locum and role replacement cover
  • Up to £4,000 per week for roles including GPs, practice managers, pharmacists and specialist nurses.

  • Sick pay cover for key employees
  • Up to £2,000 per week for other employed key staff, including practice managers, practice nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and admin staff.

  • Payments for extra sessions
  • Knowing how difficult it can be to employ a locum, Practice Protector Plus provides payments where the absence is covered internally, either in part or in full.

What else do you get?

Practice Protector Plus is a permanent policy that will last as long as you need it. This means that you don’t have to worry about increases to your premium following a claim, or having to renew every year. An annual review will still take place to confirm the coverage remains right for you.

When you take out Practice Protector Plus as locum insurance cover, GPs will also get the Practice Locum Cover Plan at no additional cost (provided through a third party).

This cover includes family emergencies, bereavement, jury service and suspension from work, as well as paternity or adoption leave. You can find out more here.
