Pension planning

As a school leader, we know that your pension arrangements can differ from that of someone who teaches in the classroom every day. That’s why we offer expert guidance on the TPS, the LGPS and more.

A Specialist Financial Adviser from Wesleyan Financial Services can help you to:

  • Work out how much income you’ll need at different stages of retirement and what action you might need to take to achieve this
  • Understand the range of options available to exit the profession at your own pace
  • Utilise additional pension planning to avoid the 60% tax trap for those earning over £100k per annum

Please note, we are not authorised to advise on pension transfers into the TPS or the LGPS. You will need to speak to the TPS or your LGPS provider directly if you want to explore this option.

Protecting your finances

Protect the lifestyle you’ve worked hard for with financial protection for critical illness, life insurance, mortgage, and income protection.

We can help you to find the right plan for your needs, to ensure you and your family are protected. Just book an appointment with a Specialist Financial Adviser to find out more.

Investment advice

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or are looking to take your first steps into investments, we can help you to save more for your retirement, your children or just to help you to continue to enjoy your existing lifestyle ensuring you maximise your allowances to do this in the most tax efficient manner.

A Specialist Financial Adviser from Wesleyan Financial Services will take the time to understand your long-term goals and how we can help you reach them financially.

Remember, the value of investments and any income can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.

Planning your estate

Passing on assets to the next generation often isn’t as simple as it may sound and will generally be subject to inheritance tax.

If you want to leave something for your loved ones after you’ve gone, a Specialist Financial Adviser can help you to plan your estate accordingly and make provisions to pay any inheritance tax to protect the full value of your estate.

Please bear in mind that advice in relation to inheritance tax planning is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

How our advice works

Ready to talk with a Specialist Financial Adviser from Wesleyan Financial Services? We’ll match you with a dedicated Adviser who truly understands the education profession.

Though there’s no one-size fits all approach to financial planning, your Adviser will:

  • Help you understand your financial options, selected to suit your needs and goals
  • Do the research, paperwork and behind-the-scenes workings
  • Create a unique and detailed financial plan to help you prioritise and develop for the future

We know you’re busy, that’s why our appointments can be arranged at a time to suit you. You can book an online appointment to meet with your Specialist Financial Adviser via video call to make accessing our advice as convenient as possible.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is the advice free?

Meetings with our Specialist Financial Advisers are on a no obligation basis. If you do choose to take out one of our financial products as a result, there will be an initial advice charge and often some ongoing management charges to pay. While we may make recommendations for you, there’s no obligation to take out any Wesleyan products or services.

  • What should I prepare ahead of the meeting?

To make the most of your time with your Specialist Financial Adviser, it can be handy to have your questions ready, as well as any information or documents relating to your finances (such as savings or investment details).

You may also be asked to complete a ‘Financial Outline’ ahead of the session and to provide a copy of your current pension statement. This enables you to tell your Adviser about your current circumstances and future goals, so they can prepare an appointment tailored to you.
